This neighborhood store had 30 large 4 ft. x 4 ft. light fixtures each with 8 standard T-12 (1.5" diameter) lamps in place. These were covered with milk-white, pan-style diffusion lenses. Standard magnetic ballasts (transformers) were in use.

The replacement of these components with electronic ballasts and high-color-rendering T-8 (1" diameter) lamps in all 30 fixtures is saving $1,824.00 per year on the store's electric bill. In addition, the new lamps reflect more brilliant colors to improve the appearance of the packaged merchandise, produce, meat, and bakery goods.
